Darlene is an Emmy award winning video editor for Fox 13 Seattle and is their "Go-To" Editor for Special Projects and long-format shows. She has worked on a variety of specials including health, weather, Sounders and We Day.
Over the years, she has helped launch shows like "Seahawks Saturday Night” where staff photographers followed a player on game day as he warmed-up, got psyched and competed. Each player wore a microphone that provided an up-close perspective into his thoughts and actions. Darlene's job was to sift through all the raw and select the best content for the show. She also handled post-production editing by livening up interviews with players and coaches with game footage and music and making sure the final edit had the correct look and timing.
After 10 years, “Seahawks Saturday Night” ended and she helped launch "The Spotlight with David Rose" where she handles the editing for some of the individual stories within the show and all the post-production editing for the news magazine-style program. The show's focus shifts each week onto different crime and safety topics effecting local communities in Western Washington. She helps select content for elements like interviews, ride-alongs and other natural sound segments then completes the show in a similar fashion as "Seahawks Saturday Night".
While Darlene is a team-player, collaborating successfully on many projects over the years, she is also a self-starter capable of independent work. She constantly strives to improve herself by learning new techniques and watching tutorials. When she sees dynamic content from outside of work, she likes to deconstruct how that look was achieved.
Along with improving her knowledge of video production techniques, Darlene is always seeking new challenges outside of work. For instance, in 2022, she started doing archery and roller skating. During the Covid 19 pandemic, she started learning to paint with new mediums like watercolor and gouache adding to her long list of other hobbies like snowboarding, hiking, swimming, knitting and crochet. These varied hobbies are where Darlene fuels her creativity and draws inspiration. She is always excited to share new ideas and can always be relied upon to have creative solutions to various problems.
