Savages are a band and they are more talented than you

They play better than you, they sing better than you, command a stage better than you, write better songs than you and do it with more purpose and meaning than anything you have ever done with all your supposed artistic talent. Ok. Ok. Ok. Maybe, that statement is hyperbolic, but I doubt B.B King or Aretha Franklin reads my tiny blog. Soooo, chances are...

If you are lucky and they tour through your town, GO! Screw the plans you made with friends and drag their butts to see Savages perform live.  We saw them on Monday at a sold-out Neumos.  My mind was blown. They mesmerized me so thoroughly that I forgot Neumos' sound system is wonky and the whole place smells of French onion soup and fried fish.
I totally geeked out.  I haven't done that in ages.  I jumped up and down, screamed every lyric I knew, punched my fist in the air and I wasn't alone.  It helped that there were signs posted at the venue requesting people refrain from taking photos or videos:

Side rant - We saw Johnny Marr at Neumos and some jerk had his gigantic phablet up recording almost the whole damn time.  He was dead center, 3 feet from the stage.  So irritating.  I mean, who wants to watch your shaky cell-phone video with over-modulated audio, anyway?
I'll admit, their music isn't for everyone.  If your musical tastes stopped evolving in college, if you haven't seen a single live show or downloaded music in the past 6 months that you didn't describe as "a guilty pleasure", basically, if you are comfortable with the musical choices of the younger, dumber version of yourself, you may not be ready for Savages.  But just because you filled the last slot of your junky IKEA tower with Chutes Too Narrow  (which came out a DECADE ago), it doesn't mean it's too late for you.  Redeem yourself.  Go buy Silence Yourself on vinyl.  It comes with a digital download. It's important.  They are important.  Learn about them, go to their website!  Go to 1:10 in the below video for the sick bass intro.

That guy at the Johnny Marr show wanted to fight me for a split second after I told him to put his damned phone down...well he at least flipped me off a bunch of times... I could have taken him.
